Welcome one and all to the Fourth Annual: Fragaria Day where we proudly release unto you our most coveted annual release, so named, Quercus Reserve: Fragaria. The love and support over the years for this beer is something that makes our hearts grow 10 times over year to year. We release Fragaria every year, on the second Saturday of the famed San Francisco Beer Week.

A big part of what Woodfour Brewing stands for is the nature of Terroir, or, the effect the environment has on a products outcome. This beer, is first spontaneously fermented in French Oak Barrels [the beer is actually fermented thanks to pure West Sonoma County Wild Yeast, not innoculated.] This initial step ensures that what you eventually consume after months of maturation, is a pure expression of our local microclimate.

Then, worthy barrels are pulled after the aging cycle is on point, in order to be re-fermented with Strawberries grown and hand picked not 2 minutes away from our Brewery in Sebastopol at Lao Family Farms in the month of August. Thus, the beer and the main ingredient are as locally sources as possible. After 4-7 weeks of re-fermentation, the beer is then bottle conditioned by hand and layed down for its release in February, ensuring the end result has had proper time to age and manifest into the best product we can possibly provide.

The end result is what we call a California Wild Strawberry Sour beer that truly expresses the Terroir of our local environment year in and year out. It is a point of pride for us, and, a fan favorite thanks to your patronage every year. As always, extremely limited in quantity for your enjoyment. Happy Fragaria Day.
