All of us at HenHouse are big fans intimate beer dinners. Such events offer an opportunity to relate to beers in a deeper manner than anywhere else. It seems there is a level of immersion with beer that only seems to happen when we are seated with fellow diners, taking our time, and engaging all five senses over an extended meal. So, this year for SF Beer Week we decided to open up the restaurant of our dreams! The Roost will be a space where we can really show out, and offer exactly the sort of beer-centric dining experience we love.

Each night, The Roost will feature the same beers paired with an entirely new menu, created by a different chef. Each dinner will be limited to 25 seats and actively hosted by that night's chef and the HenHouse squad of cicerones.

This ambitious project is only possible with the collaboration of one of our favorite chefs, Christina Alexis of the Pleasure Principle Supper Club and Dining Events. Chef Christina has helped us settle in on a roster of some of the most exciting culinary stars in the Bay, most of whom operate outside of traditional restaurant models. The chefs we will feature at The Roost are known for everything from recipe blogs, to ticketed supper clubs, to fishing trips.

Our goal with this project is a delightful and decadent, educational experience at an accessible price. We look forward to hosting you!

The Walrus Is Paul

HenHouse Brewing Company

IPA

6.3% ABV | N/A IBUs

Walrus Is Paul IPA is brewed with wheat, and flaked oats. Centennial and Pacific Jade hops provide an aroma that is a touch more savory than most of our other Conspiracy IPAs. We ferment with Conan yeast for that hazy appearance and soft fruity aroma profile. "As we all know, the Beatles admitted Paul McCartney died in 1966 in a car accident, replaced by imposter Billy Shears. Haven't you seen the clues? Look at the cover of Abbey Road: John is dressed like a priest, George in all black like a pallbearer, Ringo wears blue jeans clearly making him the grave digger, and Paul? Only one not wearing shoes. Clearly dead. On Glass Onion, John sings, "Here's another clue for you all, the Walrus is Paul", the Walrus being the Scandinavian avatar of death, of course. In 2006, MRI scans of "Faul" confirmed this with irregularities, compared to MRI scans from the 60s."

Honest Day's Work

HenHouse Brewing Company

Red Rye Saison

7.0% ABV | N/A IBUs

This is one of the most unique and complex beers we we regularly produce. Big does of caramel rye and German hops, along with a very expressive French saison ferment. The beer has a bone-dry body, and broad range of flavors and aromas ranging from cocoa power to bubblegum. Lots of louder elements in harmony.
